Research Assistant (LATAM & Caribbean) - Project Based

Role Overview

The Research Assistant builds foundational survey research skills while supporting multiple concurrent projects across the LATAM & Caribbean portfolio, working under close supervision on variuos projects. The role covers questionnaire development, data quality coordination, training support, and data collection, with regular use of Spanish and English across partner and client-facing tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support multiple projects concurrently across the LATAM & Caribbean portfolio, prioritizing tasks in coordination with the Senior Research Manager.
  • Lead questionnaire development end-to-end for low-complexity projects under close supervision, including review, translation (Spanish/English), submission form upload, testing, and pretesting.
  • Support training delivery for CATI, CAPI, and online survey studies, ensuring interviewers understand the questionnaire, platforms, and QC protocols.
  • Support data collection tasks including quota management, account setup, sample management, progress monitoring, and platform QC checks.
  • Flag and communicate case-level data quality issues in ongoing and endline survey datasets, and coordinate resolution with internal colleagues and partners in Spanish and English.
  • Contribute to paradata QC reporting and human audio review under guidance.
  • Execute data downloads, conduct QC of data files, and prepare tables and figures under senior guidance.
  • Coordinate day-to-day work with external partners across the LATAM & Caribbean region, including call centres and field teams, on training, fieldwork progress, and QC follow-up.
  • Support development of bilingual (Spanish/English) presentation and training materials.
  • Lead basic data collection reports, first time right.
  • Business development support for LatAM region clients’ proposals and client service. 
  • Use AI tools as a primary working tool for drafting, summarizing, and processing tasks across all responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Up to 2 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with at least one survey mode (CATI, CAPI, SMS, or Mobile Web) an advantage.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English (written and verbal), required; comfortable code-switching between both languages in a professional setting.
  • Strong attention to detail; comfortable working in a technology-enabled, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent project workstreams with strong organizational skills.
