About the Position

GeoPoll is seeking a Senior African Education Consultant to serve as the primary Africa lead for an education research and knowledge mobilization project. This is a short term consultant position contingent on successful project bids. The Consultant will lead the design and delivery of 3–4 African education case studies, conduct ministry interviews and stakeholder consultations, coordinate closely with the client, co-author the Africa sections of the final report, and support the development of Africa-focused knowledge products, playing a central role in shaping Africa-focused evidence and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the selection, design, and development of 3–4 African education case studies
  • Conduct key informant interviews with Ministries of Education and senior national stakeholders
  • Coordinate qualitative data collection across selected countries, including local researchers where relevant
  • Engage closely with the client to ensure alignment with regional priorities and learning agendas
  • Co-author the Africa-focused sections of the final synthesis report
  • Contribute to the development of Africa-focused knowledge products, including briefs, learning materials, and dissemination outputs
  • Support stakeholder engagement and knowledge mobilization activities targeting African policy audiences
  • Ensure high-quality, timely delivery of all Africa-related outputs in line with the project expectations

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Background in education systems strengthening, policy reform, or applied education research. Deep familiarity with education systems and policy environments across Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Direct working relationships with Ministries of Education in 2–3 Sub-Saharan African countries.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative research and education case studies
  • Strong knowledge mobilization and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience engaging senior policy actors
  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-country data collection and lead analytical writing

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Prior experience working on donor-funded multi-country initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with regional hubs, networks, or communities of practice.
  • Experience producing policy-relevant knowledge products for government and donor audiences.
